Human life is not merely a journey between birth and death; it is a remarkable process of recognizing oneself, understanding one’s essence, and awakening the inner potential that lies dormant within. The vast existence around us—the universe, nature, consciousness—is not a lifeless system. It is a living, sensitive, vibrant field of energy.
Existence does not limit itself to simply giving us life; it continuously tries to awaken us, enlighten us, and elevate us toward wholeness.
Yet, the painful truth is that the biggest obstacle in this journey is often the human being himself.
Let us dive deeper into this profound truth.
1. “Existence cares for you” — A philosophical insight
When we say “Existence cares for you,” it does not mean the universe follows you like a human guardian. It means that the very nature of life is growth, awakening, and joy.
Just as a seed carries the potential to become a great tree, every human being carries within him the possibility to bloom into full consciousness.
Existence supports this unfolding by—
– giving opportunities,
– sending signals,
– creating experiences,
– pushing sometimes,
– comforting at times,
and
– awakening us through challenges.
Every joy, every struggle, every event in life has one purpose: to help you rise.
Existence wants you to step out of your inner darkness, awaken your sleeping consciousness, and experience the bliss that is already a part of you. That is why the lines say:
“Existence tries with all its might that you awaken,
that you become blissful,
that songs rise in your life,
that the flute plays in your very breath!”
The flute here symbolizes—
– inner harmony,
– peace,
– enlightenment,
– fulfillment,
– spiritual joy.
Life wants you to experience the same divinity that saints, poets, mystics, and awakened souls have touched.
2. Why are we our own worst enemies ?
The strongest and hardest truth of the whole passage is:
“But you yourself are your own enemy; no one is a greater enemy to you than you.”
The biggest hurdle in a human being’s journey is not the outer world, not other people, not circumstances—but the person himself.
There are several inner forces that stop a person from rising:
(i) Ignorance and mental confusion
The mind creates countless illusions—
– “I can’t do it.”
– “My destiny is bad.”
– “Others are better than me.”
– “What’s the use?”
These thoughts cover the opportunities that existence gives us.
(ii) Ego — the greatest enemy
Ego traps a person.
It says—
– “I don’t need to change.”
– “I know everything.”
– “I am already perfect.”
Ego becomes a wall between a person and truth.
(iii) Fear — the biggest obstacle to awakening
People feel safe in their comfort zones.
Awakening is frightening because it demands change, and change is uncomfortable.
This fear keeps a person stuck.
(iv) Desires and constant wants
The mind is always wanting—
– more money,
– more status,
– more recognition,
– more comfort.
This endless race keeps the mind outward-focused. And when the mind runs outward, how can the inner flute play?
3. Awakening: The greatest call of existence
Existence’s message is simple and clear:
– Awaken.
– Recognize who you are.
– Feel the joy within you.
Awakening means—
– living with awareness,
– staying present in each moment,
– mastering your thoughts,
– freeing yourself from unnecessary suffering,
– connecting with your inner self.
When a person wakes up—
– sorrows fade,
– fears dissolve,
– clarity emerges,
– love expands,
and
– life becomes a celebration.
That is when the inner song arises, that is when the flute begins to play.
4. What does the flute symbolize?
The flute is a metaphor.
It represents—
– harmony in life,
– deep inner peace,
– purity of mind,
– the depth of love,
– mental and spiritual balance.
When this music awakens within someone, he is no longer ordinary.
He transforms—
– in his thoughts,
– in his behavior,
– in his very presence.
Such a person brings peace wherever he goes.
5. How do we block our own growth?
There are specific ways through which humans limit their own progress:
• Procrastination
The mind always says,
“I will change tomorrow…”
And this postponement ruins life.
• Self-criticism
People insult themselves with thoughts like—
“I am worthless,”
“I am incapable.”
These thoughts crush the soul.
• Negative company
Negativity drains one’s energy.
It pulls people backward.
• Burden of the past
The shame, guilt, and pain of the past
destroy the energy of the present.
6. The solution: Becoming a friend to yourself
As long as a person fights with himself,
he cannot find peace anywhere in the world.
To change life, one must first become a friend to oneself.
How?
1. Self-acceptance
Acceptance is the first step toward awakening.
Only when you accept yourself as you are can real change begin.
2. Meditation and awareness
Meditation cleans the mind.
Awareness brings clarity.
Together they unlock the inner flute.
3. Letting go of negative thoughts
Release the thoughts that drain your energy.
Feed your mind with fresh, healthy thoughts daily.
4. Softening the ego
The smaller the ego, the smoother the life.
True strength lies in humility.
5. Connecting with nature
The simplest way to connect with existence is through nature.
Nature brings calmness, stability, and consciousness.
Concluding, The music of existence is already within you
– The universe is calling you forward.
– It wants to guide you toward awakening.
It wants you to—
– feel joy,
– live with bliss,
and
– experience wholeness.
But standing in the way is only you—
– your fears,
– your thoughts,
– your limitations.
Cross these inner barriers and life becomes a celebration.
Existence wants a song to rise within you.
And the one who learns to hear his inner music begins to fill the world with harmony.
Remember—
The enemy is not outside;
the enemy is within.
And the friend is within too.
Awaken,
discover that inner friend,
and let the sweet music of the flute
resonate through your life.
